Foundations of World Cultures 2019

Students will study the regions of China and Japan, learning about the geography, history, and contemporary issues of the areas and how these areas have interacted historically and today.  Students will also work on time management and organizational skills; note taking skills, both in text and lecture; and historical research and writing skills, culminating in a brief but well-researched paper.  Online research skills will be emphasized. Students will learn to do scholarly research on the Internet and utilize various databases, recognizing and evaluating high level websites, databases, journal articles, and blogs.  The course is designed to dovetail with the tenth grade Modern Global History / AP History curriculum.


This class will be taught June 3-21  from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. It is open to students in rising grades 9-10. Registration for this course will open on February 6, 2019.The tuition is $1,250. This course earns 0.5 units of credit.
