Add to My CalendarJun 02-17, 2022
Last Date to register: Tuesday, January 1st, 2999

In this summer version of the Foundations of World Cultures course, we focus on the most powerful nonwestern nation on the globe today:  China.  Do you want to understand why we hear about China almost every day in the news?  Students will focus on ancient and modern China in this summer course.  We will examine China’s geographic qualities, history, and contemporary issues involving China.  Students will work on time management and organizational skills, note-taking skills in text and lecture, and historical research and writing skills, culminating in a brief but well-researched paper.  Online research skills will be emphasized. Students will learn to do scholarly research online and recognize and evaluate scholarly websites, databases, articles, and blogs.  The course is designed to dovetail with the tenth-grade Modern Global History / AP World History curriculum.

This course will meet from 8:00 am and run until 12:30 pm.

This course counts for 0.5 units of credit
