2020 - SHC - Payment Installments

2nd, 3rd, 4th Payments

Senior High Camp (SHC) is a weeklong mission during which groups of youth and adults from all over the country join together with a goal to meet the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of Cumberland Mountain families. Through this service program, all participants experience various worship styles, leadership opportunities, and are encouraged to build relationships with members of the camp community as well as those within the service area.

Our hope is that through meeting all of the needs of the Cumberland Mountain families, the groups will find commonalities with them and thus bridge the cultural gap – we instill the idea of working with people as opposed to for them.

The camp week begins on Sunday afternoon with orientation, worship, games and fun activities. Monday through Thursday groups will be out in the community from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. doing service projects. On Friday teams will take time to celebrate their week through spending time at local businesses in the community.

At Mountain T.O.P. we want to provide a space where youth can explore their faith in quiet reflection, group discussions, and community worships. This is so youth and adults are able to connect the “what” they are doing with the “why” they are doing it. We do not want this experience to be something to just check off the to-do list but to put the calling we each have from God into action. To encourage youth to use their gifts and talents to spread God’s love.

Through morning personal reflection time, devotionals on the worksite, community sharing about the day, community building games and activities, and evening worships, we hope that participants are able to see the evidence of Christ’s love in the everyday activities they will do over the course of the week. In seeing that, our hope is that they carry that passion for service to their homes, schools, workplace, churches, and hometowns.

SHC communities will be approximately 30-60 participants. Staff members are responsible for coordinating projects and as the spiritual life programming. While churches will not mix with others to create Ministry Production Teams (MPTs), we do our best to create balanced teams in order for volunteers to step out of their comfort zone and work together in the most efficient ways possible. Projects will be more substantial home repairs matched to the skill level of the group.
