Summer Theater Conservatory: Session Two (Grades 2-9)

two-week camp: SHREK THE MUSICAL JR.!
Add to My CalendarJul 15-27, 2019
Last Date to register: Monday, July 1st, 2019

Summer Theater Conservatory engages your child in every aspect of a musical theater production: acting, singing, and dancing, as well as costume, prop, and set design. Students discover and refine various theater skills in classes and workshops and then apply these new abilities directly to the production. Coached by theater professionals, students gain confidence, get creative in all avenues of theater-making, and make memories that will last for years to come!

This two-week conservatory session will feature a production of Shrek The Musical JR., based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical.  It's a "big bright beautiful world" as everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance.  Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family. Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek.  One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he's handed a task — if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn't be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.

PLEASE NOTE: Students who need to take days off camp for traveling MUST get clearance PRIOR to casting on the first day of camp. Unexcused absences will affect performance roles.

PERFORMANCE INFO: There are two performances of the production: the evening of Friday, July 26th and the afternoon of Saturday, July 27th immediately followed by a strike/pizza party. Campers MUST be able to attend both performances.

EARLY CARE: Early drop-off, from 8:00am-8:45am, is available for purchase by the week as a registration add-on.
