2020-2021 Junior Crew Season Schedule

To help ensure social distancing, our fall practice schedule is based on only rowing in singles and is designed to give each junior member an equal number of days on the water. Each squad will also have one day each week for land only training; social distancing is expected and strength equipment will be assigned and sanitized. The number of times in a week that each rower can attend a water practice is therefore limited by the number of single person boats at RCRC. The schedule below is based on projected team sizes and allows for each athlete to row about twice per week. This schedule is subject to change, based on actual team and squad sizes. For now we expect each rower will be at the boathouse three days a week in the fall; the days your athlete attends practice will be assigned once registration is completed.

Fall Practice Schedule:

Novice teams practice Sept 9 - Dec 18

Varsity teams practice Sept 8 - Dec 18

Of the listed days each athlete will be assigned 1 Land Practice day, and 1-2 Rowing Practice days

  • Novice Boys: MWTh 4:30-6:45pm, Sa 11:00am-1:15pm, 1:15-3:30pm, Su 11:30am-1:45pm, 1:45-4:00pm
  • Novice Girls: TuWThF 4:30-6:45pm, Sa 11:00am-1:15pm, 1:15-3:30pm, Su 11:30am-1:45pm, 1:45-4:00pm
  • Varsity Boys: MTuF 4:30-6:45pm & Sa 8:30-11:00am
  • Varsity Girls: MTuWTh 4:30-6:45pm & Sa 8:30-11:00am

Junior Crew Registration Process

Three (3) steps are required for registration to be complete.

Rowers must be fully registered in order to participate in practice, with the exception of new athletes; if your child has never rowed before, they are welcome to come try out the Novice Team practices before completing online registration and only need to turn in the 2020-2021 RCRC Waiver/Emergency form to start rowing. Email Head Coach Arthur Ericsson for details & a copy of the waiver at ed@rivercityrowing.org

3 steps to register for the Junior Team

  1. Online Registration: registration and dues payments for all junior team rowers are online through RegPoint. After completing online registration, you will receive a confirmation email with two links to complete steps 2 & 3 of Junior Team registration. After reviewing the information on this page, click the button at the bottom of this page to register.

  1.  RCRC Waiver/Emergency contact form. This form must be completed and either emailed to info@rivercityrowing.org by Monday Sept 7 OR it will need to be brought to the first day of practice. If you completed the Novice Team 2 Week Trial RCRC already has this form - you do not need to submit it again unless you are updating the information you provided on the form. Thank you!

  1. The RCRC Junior Team Handbook, containing the team rules and policies, for you and your athlete to keep and reference. Review the team handbook! Online registration will require initialling that you and your athlete agree to abide by the handbook.

Once these three (3) items are completed, then your athlete will be fully registered as a member of the RCRC Junior Team.

Junior Team Dues

For the 2020-2021 rowing year, registration will be split into a fall and spring season, so we can set the spring schedule and dues when we have more up to date information on what to expect in spring 2021 regarding races and events.

  • Fall 2020 club dues: $800 for Varsity (returning) and Novice (first year) rowers.

  • Fall 2020 varsity coxswain dues: $400 to participate in all varsity team land training days. Varsity coxswains are an important part of our team culture. We miss your advice and leadership in the boat and invite varsity coxswains to participate in land practices this fall. Stay in shape and connect with your team! USE CODE JrCox20 during registration

  • After September 2020 dues may be prorated: contact RCRC for details PRIOR to registering, at info@rivercityrowing.org

  • Sibling Credit: families with two or more athletes on the Junior Team may email Holly at aed@rivercityrowing.org to apply the 10% sibling credit to the second athlete's registration. Please email prior to registering.

Dues pay our coaches for the instruction and team coordination they provide; contribute to equipment and facility maintenance and repairs; provide members with USRowing membership & insurance; and contribute to Club insurance & management.

Please thoroughly review the standard payment schedules and dues & fundraising policies below.

Payment Schedules:

Athletes who register in September pay a preliminary installment of $100 upon registration. This payment allows your athlete to row and train with RCRC through Sept 30th, 2020.

During the online registration process you will be prompted to select one of two payment plans for the remaining balance of dues ($700). These payments will automatically process for athletes who choose to continue rowing after September.

Athletes who choose not to continue rowing must notify RCRC by Sept. 30, 2020 for the scheduled installments to be canceled.

Payment plans for the remaining balance ($700)

  • Two Payments: $100 upon registration; $700 on 10/1/2020

  • Three Payments: $100 upon registration; $350 on 10/1/2020, $350 on 11/1/2020

Your credit card will be automatically charged on the payment due date(s) and you will be sent an email confirmation of payment.

Dues Policies:

  1. Rowers joining after September may have their dues prorated. Email RCRC prior to registering

  2. For scholarship information, including modified payment schedules, see the Junior Crew Registration Page. These options should be set up PRIOR to registering so please see the information listed and reach out early if you plan to submit an application: http://www.rivercityrowing.org/registration--junior

  3. In 2020-2021, Membership dues are split into a Fall and Spring season. As in previous years, dues are non-refundable, and not prorated for athletes who leave the team before the end of the season.

Note regarding the Fundraising Commitment

RCRC has decided to drop the fundraising commitment this fall. Throughout the development of the Jr Team fundraising has helped keep our dues as affordable as possible, by funding things that can further enhance the rowers’ experience such as equipment (boats, oars, ergs, etc), buses for away travel, attendance at more regattas, and a host of other opportunities as they arise. In recognition that families and the broader community have many evolving needs this year we are putting off the fundraising commitment in Fall 2020 and will reevaluate a lesser commitment in Spring 2021. If you would like to still support the fundraising efforts at RCRC please reach out to Arthur or visit: https://www.rivercityrowing.org/support-rcrc
