Welcome to Adult Learn to Row

River City Rowing Club invites adults with no rowing experience to join a Learn to Row class and experience this engaging sport. This class introduces the fundamentals of rowing in an 8-person rowing shell, focusing on the technique and execution of the sweep rowing stroke, as well as rowing commands, boat handling, and the intricacies of crew dynamics. Rowing machines are used to practice technical concepts with group instruction and individual attention.  Smaller boats are sometimes used based on the number of people at practice.

The program progressively challenges new rowers resulting in a dramatic learning curve. Courses are co-ed and coached in a supportive and slightly competitive team manner. No previous rowing experience is necessary!

Coach Arthur Ericsson has 25 years of coaching experience with adult, collegiate and high school rowing. Participants who complete the three week classes are encouraged to keep rowing on the RCRC Novice Masters team.
